3M vs Formula I Logo Fight …What’s All The ‘F’uss About?
First published in early 2018.
Formula 1 recently updated its iconic logo [at time of writing in 2018]. And yes, it was in need of a refresh. But let’s not forget that the original logo is clever. It’s a waving flag. With speed streaks. It’s a letter F with a 1 in the negative space.
Many argue it just needed tweaking.
In keeping with the trend towards simplification, the new logo is sleek. It represents a race-track, it’s got momentum with a steeper forward angle than its predecessor; it’s a stylised F and a simple 1.
Design vs emotional connection

Recently F1’s redesign caught the attention of 3M, owners of many iconic brands, including the Futuro range of compression garments.
